The premiere issue of PlayStation Underground was sent to anyone who registered their PlayStation via the card included in the system's box and arrived in the Spring of 1997. The PlayStation Underground brand lived on as a free portion of Sony's official PlayStation website where they run many contests, offer special deals to members, publish newsletters for many PlayStation products, and was home to the Retail Loyalty Site before being completely phased out nearly ten years later. PlayStation Underground merged with Official PlayStation Magazine in Summer 2001.
